The uber-intelligent and ever-charming EFL teacher and host of The Daily English Show, Sarah Lilburn, delivers a thorough and devastating account of why Miss Teen South Carolina’s response was so funny to so many native speakers of English. Let’s not get into whether it’s fair or appropriate to be handing out further shalackings to this poor victim of her own–erm–ambition. No let’s focus rather on appreciating Sarah’s contribution for what it really is: a solid effort to salvage some inkling of educational value from a response that was not only devoid of intelligence or a trace of educational success, but was not even a meaningful utterance of English.
Bet you 20 bucks Sarah’s students can answer the question better than Miss South Carolina did:-)
