Note from Steve: As you may have noticed, I have a pretty full plate these days and can’t quite get to posting everyday. For this reason, and in the interest of diversity, I have asked a couple of realityonastick’s regular commenters to join in and keep you all entertained. This is a trial run, so let us know if you think Rob is shite and we’ll move him to the mail room or something.
De wa, without further ado….
Firstly, I should say this. I’m a long time commenter, first time poster and I just want to say that I am honoured and I am shedding an amount of tears that old Tubby Nishida, as we knew him in Fat Camp, would ask me, Old Potato Nuts Dalton, to write a little something on his lovely blog.
I’ll be honest. I thought long and hard. I wrote several posts. So much vitriol, so many swear words. But something happened the other day and god damn I thought I’m going to write about this. And so…
…I was watching Fahrenheit 451, the 1966 Truffaut version. For those not familiar with the story go here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrenheit_451_%281966_film%29 . I don’t know how to do links and stuff. It’s half 4 in the morning for god’s sake.
Anyway, about forty minutes in Montag starts reading his first book. He sits down, opens David Copperfield and reads everything, all of the information about the publisher, the editions, everything. What I love about it is that that is exactly what he would do. Not being used to reading he would consider everything important.
If you’re waiting for some great truth or lesson you should really check one of Steve’s posts. That’s about the extent of mine. I love small details that enhance the experience. What I love more is thinking of and providing such details.
Dudes, the devil is in the details. I say, DO sweat the small stuff. It all adds up.
This is starting to sound like advice so I should end it there.
Rob
